Registered business address in Kinshasa: a guide
A registered address is not a letterbox. Here is what it has to include to be officially usable, and what to demand from the provider.

Many companies in the DRC work at client sites, remotely or in the field, and need no square metres. They need a real address in Kinshasa: for registration, for invoicing, to receive official mail, and to exist as something more than a phone number.
What a serious registered address includes
- A commercial address usable on your official documents and invoices.
- A certificate or contract of address, a document you will be asked to produce.
- Mail handling, with a clear rule for notification and collection.
- A real physical place that exists and can be visited.
- Often an allowance of meeting room hours, so you can host people.
What it is not
It is not a PO box. An address that corresponds to no identifiable premises causes a problem at the first verification, and does not let you receive a visitor or an inspection.
Questions for the provider
- 1.Do you issue a certificate of address, and can I see an example?
- 2.How am I told that mail has arrived, and how quickly?
- 3.Can I receive a visitor at this address, and on what terms?
- 4.Are meeting room hours included?
- 5.What happens if I need to cancel, and what is the notice period?
Who it suits
- A services company whose team works at client sites.
- A subsidiary starting up in the DRC and testing the market before investing.
- A consultant or small structure with no need for a permanent office.
- A foreign company needing a legal presence in Kinshasa.
When it stops being enough
If your team meets several times a week, if you receive clients regularly, or if you store equipment, a registered address alone no longer covers it. The logical step is a dedicated desk or a private office, at the same address so your documents do not have to change.

FAQ
Is a registered address enough to incorporate in the DRC?
You need an address supported by a document the provider issues. Ask for the certificate before committing and check it is accepted by the guichet unique.
Can you receive clients at a registered address?
If the provider has real premises with meeting rooms, yes. That is precisely what separates a usable registered address from a bare one.
Can you move from a registered address to an office?
Yes, and it is the usual path. Staying at the same address avoids redoing the official paperwork.
