Training rooms in Kinshasa: layout, AV and catering

A training session is not a long meeting. Layout, sound and breaks change everything, and they get decided when you book, not on the morning.

A training room with a long table, chairs and a wall screen, under the title: training rooms in Kinshasa, layout, AV and catering

A meeting room holds a discussion. A training room holds one person talking for three hours and fifteen people writing. The constraints are different, which is why a training session run in a meeting room exhausts everyone before noon.

Layout

  • Classroom: everyone gets a surface to write on and room for a laptop. The default for training.
  • U shape: better for discussion, weaker beyond sixteen people.
  • Islands of four: for workshops with group exercises. Leave room to walk between tables.

Ask whether the room can be reconfigured and how long it takes. An improvised change eats thirty minutes of your session.

Audiovisual

  1. 1.A screen readable from the back row, not the front.
  2. 2.Amplified sound beyond twelve people, particularly with air conditioning running.
  3. 3.A whiteboard or flip chart, and markers that still write.
  4. 4.Cables, plus a spare USB C adapter.
  5. 5.A reachable power socket per person if the session runs all day.

That last point is the one people forget, and it gets paid for at 2pm when half the room is hunting for a socket.

Breaks and catering

Plan a break every ninety minutes. In Kinshasa, lunch is worth ordering in advance: letting fifteen people go out to find food costs an hour of session and the group never comes back complete.

Power and connectivity

A full day training is the session most exposed to outages, simply because it lasts. Check generator autonomy across a whole day rather than two hours, and ask whether air conditioning stays on during backup. A full room without cooling becomes unusable in twenty minutes.

The KinKonnects training room

KinKonnects has a training room in Ngaliema at the OUA and Massamba crossing, with backed up power, fibre, parking and access from 7am to 10pm Monday to Saturday, which makes evening and Saturday sessions possible.

The room seats up to fourteen and comes with a whiteboard and AV equipment. For half day and full day rates, contact us and we will send you the details for booking.

To arrange a session, call +243 961 000 077 or write to info@kinkonnects.com with participant numbers, duration and the layout you want.

Kinshasa workspaces compared

A comparison is only worth anything if it is dated, sourced and willing to say a competitor does something better. This one is.
